This Outlander Redoux tour visits sights from Season & Book Two and Beyond. Since large parts of season 2 take place in Paris, we are using the slang French term "Redoux". It is also "refreshed and re-mixed" with some sights of season 3 and 4 as well as some from season 1 that might have been missed in the original Outlander Immersion Tours.

However, this tour works just fine as a stand-alone experience, so you are more than welcome to take the Redoux tour prior to the Immersion tour if the dates work out better for you. If you need help getting to Inverness or want to spend time in Glasgow and/or Edinburgh before or after the tour, please contact me and I'll help you work out the details.

The size: with only 7 people maximum, you get to interact with the other members of the tour and the wonderful guide. It also means that you won't have a multitude of people pouring out of a bus at Craigh na Dun or Clava Cairns where it is nice to have a bit of peace when you're trying to go back through the stones or see if you can spot Jamie and Claire in the woods. (But watch out for Black Jack - you would not want him coming up behind you!)

Day 1 & 2 - Inverness
Spend 2 nights in the Capital of the Scottish Highlands - Inverness.
On your own, using the included 1 day hop-on hop-off bus pass, see the sights of the charming city of Inverness and familiarize yourself with the layout of the town. Like most Scottish towns, Inverness is a friendly little town with a selection of traditional music at a couple of pubs and good shopping choices.

The tourist information center Visit Scotland is just up the hill from the River Ness on High Street, right past the Whisky Shop, Gellions Bar which is across the street from Visit Scotland has nightly live music, Hootananny is down Church Street, Highland House of Fraser - Kiltmaker & Supplier of Highland Dress, "The Bar" at the Glenmoriston Townhouse Hotel for a good selection of fine Scottish Whisky

Day 3 - Journey begins - Tulloch Ghru and the Cairngorms, Film Locations for Witches Trial, Eldridge Manor, Gardens of Versailles
The journey starts with a drive through the sweeping, stunningly beautiful area called Tulloch Ghru in the Cairngorms which according to Buzzfeed is "the setting for Claire's trip through the woodland with Jamie and his clansmen in the first episode". From there we will continue through the scenic highlands to Tibbermore Church to visit the site of the Witches Trial and stand in the same pulpit where Claire and Gellis faced the angry crowd. After having some fun there and then a nice Scottish lunch at Gloagburn Farm Shop, we'll move on to the splendid Drummond Castle Gardens. For filming of Season 2 of Outlander, the gardens stood in for ornate park and orchard of the Palace of Versailles in France. We'll travel through the heart of the kingdom of Fife and our last stop of the day will be Eldridge Manor, the home of Sir Marcus, where Murtagh came up with the idea to use the cattle to rescue Jamie. The actual location is the atmospheric, medieval Balgonie Castle which is a working, living castle where you can get a sense of what life was like during that period.

Day 4 - The TV location of 'the Mill', Rosslyn Chapel, the church where Jamie and Claire were married, the Duke's kitchen
Today we will journey to one of the filming sites of Wilmington and see the location where Jamie and Claire went to see a play, and then Claire performed emergency surgery. The filming was done at Arniston House which has historical links to Rosslyn Chapel and Culloden, as the family was eventually instrumental in getting the tartan act repealed as well as other oppressive laws in the wake of the ‘45 Rising. Next we'll see "the Mill" where Jamie dove in the frigid water to free the stuck wheel. The filming was done at the picturesque Preston Mill – one of the oldest, working, water-driven meal mills in Scotland. After searching around for Jamie's clothes, you'll stop for a visit at Rosslyn Chapel (as long as we're in the neighborhood and it is such a not to be missed site) and have lunch at Rosslyn Inn. From there you'll go to the beautiful church where Jamie and Claire's iconic wedding took place. The Glencorse Old Kirk is still used today as a wedding venue so our visit will have to be arranged in advance and may need to be moved around in the schedule. Near by is the Callendar House which was used as Bellhurst Manor and the authentic Georgian working kitchen was that of the Duke of Sandringham ("Off with your head!"). On the return to Stirling, we'll have a short photostop of the Kelpies.

Day 5 - Dean Castle Country Park (The Fox's Lair), Ayrshire Coast, Harbour of Dunure, Cumbernauld Glen, Stirling Castle
The first stop of the day will be Dean Castle Country Park which stand in for the home of Lord Lovat, Beaufort Castle. This is where Claire and Jamie went to try to persuade the old fox to send his clan to aid Charles Stuart. The next destination is Dunure which is on the lovely coast of Scotland. This is where filming for the Season 3 harbor scenes took place when they were getting ready to sail to the Caribbean as well as the conversation with Jared. (This is also the site from Season 4 where Bree and Lizzie were walking around the harbor.) The beach and castle next to the harbor were used for the scenes in Season 3 where Claire and Jamie watch young Ian swim out to Silkies’ Island. After this we'll stop for lunch at the Harbour Inn. The afternoon will be spent at the site where scenes for Fraser's Ridge were filmed and you'll enjoy a walk through the ancient and mature oak woodlands of Cumbernauld Glen. Both the woods around Jamie and Claire's cabin, and the bear fight were filmed here. For those who love a walk on the wild side, Cumbernauld Glen is also a haven for wildlife. Early spring sees pockets of snowdrops appearing and summer brings a profusion of bluebells. The last stop of the day will be an optional visit to Stirling Castle.

Day 6 - Glencoe, Fort William, Isle of Skye
On this day, you will head north to see the breathtaking hills and valleys of Glencoe which is featured in the opening credits of Outlander. There will be time for photo stops so you can get out of the van and actually experience this most gorgeous location. From there it is a short journey to Fort William where you may wander around, do some shopping and eat a hearty Scottish lunch or something lighter like soup and scones. After lunch you will travel on to one of the most photographed castles in Scotland - Eilean Donan Castle. From there it is "over the sea to Skye" via the historically interesting Sky Road Bridge. You will travel along the Isle of Skye with it's beautiful mountain and sea views en-route to the colorful village of Portree. You will spend 2 nights on magical Isle of Skye.

Day 7 - Isle of Skye - Fairy Pools, Neist Point, Talisker Distillery and Dunvegan Castle & Gardens
One full day on the Isle of Skye to enjoy it's many enticing delights. You will start by seeing the remote Neist Point, The most Westerly point on the Isle of Skye, with excellent views to the Western Isles. "Neist Point is renowned for its rock formations, which are closely akin to those at the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. It is said that the causeway extends under the sea from Northern Ireland to the Isle of Skye." From there you will visit Dunvegan Castle and Gardens and have lunch at the Lochside in Dunvegan. After a tour of Talisker Distillery you will be taken to the enchanting Fairy Pools at the foot of the Black Cuillins. The Fairy Pools are "one of the most magical places in Scotland" according to Visit Scotland.

Day 8 - Skye & the Trotternish Peninsula, Jacobite Train and back to Inverness - End of Tour
Today will be a delightful day of touring the Trotternish Peninsula including photostops at Old man of Storr, Kilt Rock and Quiraing. From there you will board the ferry to Mallaig with the final highlight of the day being the Jacobite Steam Train. "Described as the greatest railway journey in the world" this 42 mile trip takes you across the 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct (seen in the Harry Potter films) which overlooks the Jacobite monument. "The train may pause on the viaduct, time permitting, to allow you to take in the magnificent view."

Price:

The price (in USD) for this tour is $2,600 per person double occupancy for land only, $3,200 for a single room. There are a limited number of single rooms so there will be an extra charge if we have to book a double to be used as a single room. Prices are subject to change until final payment is made.
There is a $500 non-refundable deposit per person due when the tour is booked.
The tours are not guaranteed until 4 people have signed up. There will be options if the tour does not get the minimum amount of people. If the tour is canceled, then you would get your $500 refunded.

Hugh Allison and I have worked together to design this tour and we will strive to see all of the places in the list above but they are subject to change dependent on weather and availability and what we may see in upcoming episodes.
